Jennifer Safavian, President and CEO of Autos Drive America, today released the following statement in response to the Trump administration’s announcement of a trade deal with the European Union:

“With the August 1st deadline approaching, we are encouraged that President Trump is successfully reaching historic trade deals with our closest allies and partners. We look forward to seeing the specifics of the EU deal in the coming days and urge the administration to finalize similar agreements with other key partners – particularly South Korea, Canada, and Mexico.

“International automakers have been a driving force in the expansion of the U.S. auto industry, surpassing the Detroit 3 in domestic production for the past two years and investing $124 billion in U.S. production. As the administration finalizes these landmark trade agreements, we urge President Trump to consider additional relief for international automakers in order to allow for continued investment and growth in the United States, keeping the U.S. auto industry competitive on the global stage.”
