Statement on Section 232 Report on Auto and Auto Parts Imports

July 7, 2021

WASHINGTON D.C. – Statement by Jennifer Safavian, President and CEO of Autos Drive America

“While we appreciate the decision of the Department of Commerce to release the long-overdue auto 232 findings, we vehemently disagree with the report’s analysis and conclusions. Baseless tariffs on imported autos and automotive parts do not serve the interests of the United States and the 10 million Americans whose jobs are supported by the U.S. auto industry. Maintaining open trade and investment policies benefits American workers, consumers, and strengthens the global competitiveness of the U.S. auto industry.”
