    Mazda Foundation Awards Grants in Underserved Communities Across the U.S.

    The Board of Trustees of the Mazda Foundation (USA) Inc., awarded funding for seven programs this year, renewing the organization’s commitment to addressing food insecurity and some of its many root causes, particularly equitable access to education and job opportunities. In total, the Mazda Foundation awarded over $510,000 to organizations across the United States.

    “The grants we’re announcing today reaffirm our commitment to the highly successful partnerships we’ve built over the past five years,” said Tamara Mlynarczyk, manager of public affairs for Mazda North American Operations and president of the Mazda Foundation (USA), Inc. “Many of these partnerships offer valuable opportunities for Mazda employees to volunteer their time and share their creativity and expertise with the next generation – a core value of our company.”

    MTM Grant Fund Supports Over 150 Local Nonprofits

    Mazda Toyota Manufacturing launched the MTM Grant Fund in 2022, with the goal of engaging local nonprofit organizations in Madison, Morgan, and Limestone counties to help further their missions.

    MTM focuses on three areas with their Social Innovation Strategy: Economic Impact, Education, and Quality of Life. After launching with awards in June of 2022, MTM held another cycle in Spring of 2023. However, starting that year, the MTM Grant Fund became biannual with a Spring and Fall Grant fund cycle. Each spring, awards are announced in June – and each fall, awards are announced on Giving Tuesday. A committee of MTM team members reads and votes on each grant submission, before inviting finalists to a live “pitch” to talk about their organization and their programs. It has become an amazing way for the MTM team to connect with the organizations who do so much to support and sustain their community.

    MTM Internships

    Mazda Toyota Manufacturing has internship opportunities available for college students. MTM, in partnership with the Alabama Productivity Center (APC), provides a hands-on learning experience for students studying engineering, human resources, logistics, operations management, accounting, finance, and more to prepare them for a career in manufacturing.

    Training MTM Leaders through LEAD Academy

    In the fall of 2022, MTM executive leadership saw a need to add additional leaders to cover those sent to training. In December 2022, the HRD Department hired four Production Group Leaders from the floor to become trainers for LEAD Academy. Shortly afterwards, MTM started the first LEAD Academy classes in February 2023 with 19 Group Leaders and 24 Team Leaders.
