Statement from Autos Drive America in Response to the ‘Make Congress Drive Union-Made’ Act

February 4, 2026

Jennifer Safavian, President and CEO of Autos Drive America, today released the following statement in response to the introduction of H.R. 7337/S. 3766, the ‘Make Congress Drive Union-Made’ Act:

“The ‘Make Congress Drive Union-Made’ Act discriminates against hardworking American autoworkers who have chosen not to join a union. International automakers produced more than 88% of the American-made affordable vehicles sold in the U.S. last year. This bill would make more than 50% of American-made vehicles ineligible for Congressional use, preventing dozens of Members of Congress from using a vehicle built by their own constituents.

“Congresswoman Stevens and Senator Slotkin should instead recognize the shared role all American autoworkers play in strengthening domestic manufacturing and supporting the entire U.S. auto industry.”
