Autos Drive America Reacts to President Biden’s Electric Vehicle Battery Funding Announcement

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Autos Drive America President and CEO Jennifer Safavian issued the following statement in response to the Department of Energy’s announcement of $3.16 billion in funding to support the nation’s growing electric vehicle and energy storage demands:

“The Biden Administration’s commitment to domestic battery production through federal funding will help boost electric vehicle production capacity in the U.S.

“In 2020, international automakers sold more than 465,000 new green vehicles, like battery electric vehicles (EVs), fuel cell vehicles, and hybrids, in the U.S. – accounting for 62% of the green vehicle market. Our members are consistently leading the way toward a cleaner energy future for the American people by investing in EV manufacturing and research and putting American workers at the center of that commitment.

“We appreciate the administration’s investment into key supply chains that will enable us to build the cars of the future, and we encourage the president and Congress to continue investing in ways to help Americans transition to a greener future.”
