HMMA and Its Team Members Donate to the Heart of Alabama Food Bank
Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama, LLC (HMMA) team members have once again expressed their generosity and team spirit by donating $14,209 of their personal funds to the Heart of Alabama Food Bank during HMMA’s annual food drive.
Inspired by their generosity, HMMA made an additional $10,000 corporate donation to the Heart of Alabama Food Bank bringing the total amount donated to $24,209.
“HMMA has a culture of generosity inspired by our 4,200 team members,” said Mark Rader, HMMA President and CEO. “This donation, over half of which comes from the pockets and hearts of our team members, is more than just a number – it’s groceries on shelves, meals on tables, and hope to those who worry today that they won’t be able to eat tomorrow. Their deep sense of community doesn’t just inspire us, it defines us.”
HMMA Opens $14 Million Care Center for Team Members
Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama (HMMA) celebrated the grand opening of its new Care Center, a $14 million facility designed to enhance the health and well-being of its team members. Located at a new central site on the southwest corner of the general assembly building on the HMMA campus, the Care Center is set to become a cornerstone for HMMA’s commitment to its 4,000 team members.
The newly inaugurated facility houses the HMMA medical clinic, a physical therapy clinic, an Emergency Response Team, a fitness center, and a team wear store, all aimed at providing comprehensive services to HMMA’s dedicated workforce. This investment underscores the company’s focus on fostering a supportive team environment, especially as HMMA prepares to celebrate its 20th anniversary this May.
“We are incredibly proud to unveil this state-of-the-art Care Center,” said Chris Susock, HMMA’s President and CEO. “Our team members are the heart of this company, and this facility is an investment in keeping that heart healthy. This new facility is more than just a place for enhanced medical services; it’s a resource for wellness, fitness, physical therapy, fire prevention, and emergency response. It’s why we are calling it our Care Center. It was specifically designed to support our community of diverse and dedicated Team Members who bring the best Hyundai and Genesis vehicles to life for the North American market.”
Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama (HMMA) proudly celebrated its 20th anniversary with a Team Member Appreciation Day on May 3, 2025, on the HMMA campus. The large event brought together HMMA team members, their families, and special community guests for a day filled with family activities, plant tours, prize raffles, musical entertainment, and a closing fireworks display.
Attendees enjoyed carnival rides, games, inflatables, bingo, and a variety of free food and drinks. The day’s main event was a special live musical performance by Jermaine Dupri and Friends.
o honor the milestone, Genesis Gives, the corporate social responsibility initiative from Genesis Motor America, presented Alabama State University with a $50,000 donation, and the Genesis Inspiration Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to supporting education through the arts, presented the Alabama Shakespeare Festival with a $50,000 grant during the event.
While the team member celebration was held on May 5, the Montgomery, Ala. plant’s 20th year of production will officially be marked on May 20, 2025.

Hyundai Supports Education and Hunger Relief in Massachuetts
Hyundai Motor America continued its commitment to community well-being by supporting education and hunger relief in Massachusetts. Students at the Greater Holyoke YMCA participated in the Hydrogen STEM Program, gaining firsthand experience with hydrogen fuel cell technology and its real-world applications.
HMMA Hosts 4th Annual HIRE School Robotics Tournament
Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama (HMMA) hosted its fourth annual Hyundai Initiative for Robotics Excellence (HIRE) School Robotics Tournament on February 6 and 7, 2025. In 2019, HMMA teamed up with Auburn University’s Southeastern Center of Robotics Education (SCORE) to start the HIRE program. The goal of HIRE is to establish robotics teams at local schools to seed the next generation of a technically proficient workforce.
Hyundai Launches Sixth Annual Women in STEM Scholarship Program
Hyundai proudly announced the opening of applications for its sixth annual Women in STEM Scholarship. This year, five female STEM students will each receive a $10,000 scholarship, for a total of $50,000 in awards. This initiative reinforces Hyundai’s commitment to empowering the next generation of women in engineering, mobility and autonomous driving fields.
